Welcome

I am pleased that you have decided to visit our website and I do hope that you find the information it contains to be interesting and useful.

Kings Road is a large Primary School catering for just over 360 pupils between the ages of four and eleven. Following an extensive remodeling programme which was completed in 2002 the facilities we now offer are first class. Our classrooms are large, well decorated and well resourced. We have two halls, a computer suite, a superb library. Externally, the grounds are extensive, allowing for a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities.

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here. The children at Kings Road Primary School are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.

We are a fully inclusive school. We believe in the potential of every individual, from whatever circumstance, to achieve and enjoy their time at our school. The school is holistic in its approach, serving not just the whole child but the whole family. We see the school as a hub for the community. The success of this approach is evident in its contribution to our school's ethos.

Our principal aim is to have a happy, stimulating environment in which children can thrive. High expectations are held for all members of our school community. We have as our core values respect, responsibility, courage, honesty, fairness, care, hope and thoughtfulness. Parental involvement is welcomed in all aspects of our school.

We want our pupils to succeed in every area of their life at our school. We believe passionately in developing innovative ways to overcome barriers to learning and general progress, ensuring our children have the full range of skills and values to continue their learning journey, on the way to a happy and successful life.

We believe in every child having many opportunities to be involved in clubs and sporting activities. To this end we offer an extensive range of extra curricular provision. We believe in healthy competition. We enter teams in a variety of local tournaments in addition to inter house and class competitions. Our school choir has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and other choral productions.

We are also focusing on the Extended Schools Agenda and currently have a breakfast club and after school club based at the school. The breakfast club has been operating at Kings Road for a number of years. The after school club (which is part of the local consortium provision) started in 2007 and is part of a partnership between the school and the Chelmsford YMCA. We also offer a range of 'Family Fun' learning opportunities.

“Our work will be complete when our pupils have been stretched to reach their individual and varied potential and they are confident to continue their learning journey.”

We would be very pleased for you to share this experience with us.

I am confident that you will have a wealth of information about our diverse and successful school. Please remember however, that there is always someone at school who will be most willing to answer any further questions that you may have.

There is a mid–morning break of 15 minutes for both key stages when apples/packets of dried fruit (raisins, sultanas, apricots etc) are sold from the School Office for 20p. (At this time children are allowed to eat a small quantity of either fruit or vegetables.)

Children are asked to arrive for morning school during the 10-minute period before the start of the session. They will be greeted by their class teacher and encouraged to participate in a “settling” activity.

Please be aware that we cannot accept any child into the playgrounds before the 10-minute period as we are unable to provide supervision for them.

KS1 children are taught for 21 hours 15 minutes each week, and KS2 for 23 hours 45 minutes. These times include Religious Education but exclude assembly, collective worship, morning and lunch time breaks.
