The Governors of Kings Road Primary School are committed, enthusiastic volunteers, from a variety of walks of life, who are keen to help, support, strengthen and promote the school in the local community.
Our Governors are elected or appointed for a term of office of four years. The current constitution of the Kings Road Governing Body is as follows, a full constitution would be a total of ten Governors:
Governors are friends of the school and they enjoy supporting and attending school, social and fund-raising events. They offer support and advice, working with the Head of School and the staff, to set the strategic direction of the school and, importantly, to ensure that the standards of teaching and learning continue to improve.
Much of the Kings Road Governing Body’s work is undertaken by four main, working Committees, focussing on the Finance, Personnel, Curriculum and Premises, concerns of the school and every Governor is a member of at least one Committee. Governors also take particular interest in important areas of school life and they champion the causes of their Individual Responsibilities by visiting the school regularly for monitoring purposes and by liaising with the relevant lead staff member. Visit reports are recorded and Governors give verbal feed-back at the termly Full Governing Body meetings.
Governors take part in training sessions to keep up-to-date with current legislation, ‘hot topics’, procedures and policies in the world of education. Sometimes, they train with staff or as a Governing Body in school, but they also attend conferences and meetings at other venues, as organised by the Local Authority.
A Governor’s life is a busy one at Kings Road, with visits and meetings and background research and paperwork to digest prior to meetings, but it is so enjoyable, worthwhile and rewarding, as we endeavour to play a meaningful part in the lives of our pupils, by always ‘Putting the Children First’.
