Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, and New York Times Bestselling author of 25 books, including ‘Rebound’, the follow-up to his Newbury Medal award winning middle-grade novel, ‘The Crossover’. Kwame is the recipient of several awards, including Highly Commended for the CLiPPA Award and nominated for the Carnegie Medal, and he believes that poetry can change the world. He uses poetry to inspire and empower young people around the world with his writing workshops, often reaching more than five hundred students every month.
Kwame has led cultural exchange delegations to Brazil, Italy and Singapore and to Ghana, where he is training teachers and building a library and health clinic as part of the LEAP for Ghana – an international literacy program he co-founded. He is also the host and producer of ‘Bookish’, a literacy talk show and the founding editor of ‘Versify, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers.
