Oversubscription

There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area. In the event of oversubscription places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:

  1.     Looked After Children
  2.     Children living in the priority admission area with a sibling attending the school
  3.     Other children living in the priority admission area
  4.     Children living outside the priority admissions area with a sibling attending the school
  5.     Remaining applications

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closes being given the highest priority. Straight line distances are calculated by the LA as described in the Primary Education in Essex 2019/2020 booklet. In the unlikely event of two applications with an identical distance competing for a single place at a school the place will be offered to one applicant on the basis of lots drawn by an officer of the admission authority not involved in admissions.

You can find more information about admissions to schools in Essex, including what to do if your child wasn't offer a place at your preferred school, on the Essex County Council website.
